How to Join
- Find us on Twitter and follow @UppertonEdgeRPG
- Tweet at us or DM us letting us know that you would like to audition to join the family! An audition will include:
- Which character you wish to take, or wish to discuss.
- A solo RP of how you would portray this character, showcasing your role play abilities. (If you are interested in an original character you must also provide a bio and faceclaim.)
- Once your audition is accepted and approved by our admin team, your new account must include " _UE" at the end of your handle (twitter name @).
- After the account is approved you must follow all of the members on the Upperton Members list and Ashford Members on @UppertonEdgeRPG.
- And FINALLY, once all of that is complete, we will make an announcement to the whole group and welcome you into our RP family! (* you may NOT interact with other active members until each step has been completed and an announcement has been made.)
rules
(In no particular order)
- Please try to stay as accurate as possible to our current time period of 1869. Struggling? Try to do a bit of research on the era. See our "The Victorian Era" page for help.
- Try to RP (role play) with more than one person. Broaden your horizons and step out of your box. You'll be glad you did!
- Use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. Please, no text speak. Occasional mistakes will not result in warning.
- We are a detailed, highly descriptive role playing group dedicated to the storytelling of our characters. We encourage all members to be as illustrative as possible in each reply. One sentence tweets will not be tolerated in storylines and threads, and will result in a warning from an admin. We expect your writing to reflect that of your solo audition because this is how you first showcased your writing abilities. (Brief, one tweet out of character banter, or occasional quips are acceptable. One tweet replies in roleplaying is not.)
- We do not censor content, if you choose to write for an 18+ audience please make note of it in your bio (MC | 18+ | Mature Themes | Trigger Warnings | etc.) The Admin team will step in (at their discretion) if things are getting out of hand or become too inappropriate for our group.
- Please remain out of character as little as possible. We do not allow (real life) drama on the TL (timeline); between two people OR things going on in your life. Do not indirectly tweet hate about someone unless it's IN character within your RP. Failure to refrain from this will result in a warning from an admin.
- If you do choose to be OOC (out of character), please use an appropriate marker, for example: //, |x , || , etc.
- Please refrain from retweeting, liking or sharing links/media/images/videos/other tweets that are not relevant to the Victorian era or our members.
- We are group-exclusive. Members are not allowed to interact with accounts outside of the Upperton Edge group. You may only RP publicly with accounts within this RPG (role play group). You may not begin to RP with other members of the group until your account has been approved and announced.
- You must get on to RP at least 2-4 times a week, if you cannot meet this activity please discuss with an admin, or speak to a co-owner about an extended absence. Please try to refrain from "I will be posting..." "I will get to..." tweets. Don't tell. Do.
- You MUST only use pictures when the actors look like they are from the time period. We are striving for a cohesive look, to have modern looking media is out of place. The only exceptions include:
- The character has been approved by an admin (a very rare occurrence).
- The character is male, who may use pictures of their faceclaim in a suit if it looks appropriate.
- The character is participating in a #FridayChallenge or other activity which encourages modern media.
- You may only ask to change a faceclaim from a role once, even if it is an original character without special circumstance. You may NOT change your faceclaim without approval from the admins.
Failure to comply with the previously listed items will result in:
Breaking a rule one time - Warning
Breaking a rule second time - Suspension
Breaking a rule third time - Expulsion
Be nice, have fun, stay classy.
